Our Program
Our programs are exciting, investigative and fun, with learning and play firmly intertwined. Informed by the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework, our activities, resources and routines incorporate principles from both the Montessori and Reggio-Emilia approaches to education.
Our method, which is reflective of our overall child-centred ethos, is designed to inspire your child to develop a lifelong love of learning by following their natural developmental trajectory. We value social collaboration as well as individual investigation and recognise our own environment as an important tool to inspire their learning.
While we support children to develop their understanding, thoughts and creativity in their own particular way – arts, movement, imaginative play, music – we also ensure that we provide structured experiences which will prepare them for school.
Italian Program
We are delighted to be in partnership with CO.AS.IT. as they deliver their Italian program for preschoolers ‘Il Girotondo’ onsite. The program has been expertly developed following the VEYLDF which supports and promotes children’s learning. The program actively uses play to expose children to the Italian language. Each week the lovely Linda visits us and engages with the children in a variety of activities including games, cooking, dancing, singing, art, craft and more.
Indigenous Program
Our Educators embed Indigenous knowledges, ways of being, knowing and doing along with incorporating a daily acknowledgement of country in our program. Educators also explore Indigenous seasons and integrate layers of country into the program and promote respect and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, we utilise authentic resources and have a range of dream time stories and Indigenous story’s that we read with children. We are supported by Uncle Trevor, who is our Indigenous Consultant. All Educators take part in training in regards to developing cultural responsiveness and awareness and continue to develop skills to support them to engage with, respond to and support Indigenous children and families.
Body Safety Program
Our Body safety program is offered across all rooms, where consent is role modelled and taught to all children, along with developing children’s awareness of correct body terminology, understanding their rights, being aware of body cues that tell us if we are safe or unsafe, we teach children about safe people they can disclose to. As educators we will ensure all children are heard, their concerns, complaints and needs are taken seriously. We use a range of resources and visual aids to support children to be body safe for themselves and towards others and this program also integrates the child Safe standards and our commitment to these.
All educators undertake yearly Mandatory Child Protection reporting training.
Nature/Environment Program
Our Our service values nature, and see our environment as being the ‘Third Teacher’ we embed sustainable practices throughout our programs and support children to be part of taking care of and maintaining our natural environments, developing their understanding of how we and nature are interconnected and the impacts we have on nature and nature has on our world.
Our kinder children embed their understanding of the complex interconnections between nature and our world and build upon their understanding of Indigenous knowledges when they venture out on regular outings into the local community as part of their urban community and bush kinder program.
